Forthcoming events

The Voyagers and Navigators (V&N) residential events have always been keenly awaited by Pilots. Looking at issues that impact on young people today, they offer opportunities for Voyagers and Navigators to explore the issues and how they might deal with them using a mixture of discussions, games, activities and worship.

These opportunities to feel part of the bigger Pilots family and to meet others of a similar age are very special, make sure your Pilots have the opportunity to attend.

V & N 2010 – Get out of the Box!

‘V & N – Get out of the Box’ will take place at St Cassian’s in Kintbury, near Hungerford and will be based on the new Toy Story 3 film, which has the tag line‘no one left behind’. The event is for Pilots aged 11 – 18 (Voyagers and Navigators) and takes place from Monday 16thuntil Thursday 19thof August 2010.

There will be the usual mix of Pilots programme activities, such as games, worship, craft, and exploring the grounds and will hopefully include trips to bowling, a first night tradition, and to see the film it self. We will have singing around the camp fire and the food, as always, will be excellent. And all of this set in the wonderful historic manor house that is St Cassian’s in it’s 18 acres of grounds.

Places are limited so contact the Pilots Desk for a booking pack and return the form as soon as possible.

THEATRE WEEK

We are writing to you to let you know about our forthcoming Theatre Week event and to ask if it would be possible for you to pass on the details to any young people in your Synod.

Theatre Week, as you may be aware, is an ecumenical annual youth theatre event run by the Christian performing arts organisation, Faith, hope & gaffertape. Theatre Week originally began as an initiative of the United Reformed Church but has been running as an independent event since being taken over by the current directors in 2004. We are still proud to be supported by the URC and seek to work as closely as possible with you. Most of the young people who attend our events are members of FURY.

Theatre Week is a residential youth event for 16-25year olds. The challenge is to prepare a show from auditions to final performance in just one week! This year we will be preparing the Disney favourite, Beauty and the Beast.  We need singers, dancers, actors, musicians, prop-makers and backstage crew for this musical extravaganza!

I have attached a promotional poster but can send you hard copies if that would be useful. More details below.

The Vine Holiday Club Report here!!!!!!

Hi All

Check out this website and see the trailer of the adventures of Mary and Joseph, it is the nativity story and is aimed at younger children via the internet.

I was at the launch and it is a truly fantastic and creative piece of work combining the old and new to teach, lead and inspire younger audiences to debate and raise awareness about the Christian faith.

I was so encouraged to see Arch bishops and those of positional standing in our community enthusing about this production as it is a step towards the church interacting with the internet at a level that can be enjoyed by the younger cyber generation.  I was touched by the demonstration of love for the faith and the deep concern for those being denied the opportunity as expressed by the brain behind the idea Rev Peter Elvy, a legend proving that new and innovative ideas continue to be created once a vivid imagination and childlike curiosity is permitted to be.

Take a look, sign up to the site for a reminder and let the journey begin.
